Weight management

Sometimes willpower alone just isn’t enough. And that’s okay.

Perhaps you eat mindfully and try to exercise regularly, yet the kilos still won’t shift. It can feel frustrating and exhausting, especially when people around you assume you ‘just need a bit more discipline’. But losing weight is rarely only about eating less and moving more.

Your metabolism, hormones and sense of fullness play a much bigger role than you might think.

At IKARIA Clinics, we understand this. That’s why we offer a medically guided programme: weight loss with injections. These injections help reduce feelings of hunger, giving your body the space to burn fat and making it easier for you to stay on track. It’s not a miracle cure, but a supportive tool, always combined with guidance, thorough assessment and a tailored plan.

Who benefits from our weight management programme?

Do you struggle with hunger, emotional eating or keeping the weight off? Then this programme may be the right solution for you. It is also suitable for people with early metabolic issues, such as insulin resistance or hormonal imbalances (for example, during the menopause). You don’t need to have ‘tried everything’ first, but you do need to be motivated to also work on your lifestyle. The injections can help, but they are no substitute for healthy habits. Think of them as a supportive boost in the right direction.
This programme is designed for:
People who have been struggling with excess weight or recurring weight fluctuations for a longer time.
People who find that previous attempts to lose weight have brought little or no lasting results
Anyone experiencing health issues such as fatigue, high blood sugar or hormonal imbalances
For those who’ve tried it all, but are still searching for lasting results.

What can you expect from the programme?

The weight loss you can expect when using GLP-1 injections, such as Saxenda, Mounjaro or Ozempic, will vary – but there is a general pattern you can keep in mind:

First weeks | In the first few weeks, weight loss is usually modest – around 0.5 to 1 kg per week. This is because your body needs time to adjust to the medication, while it begins to help regulate your appetite.

Longer term | After the initial adjustment period, weight loss may average around 1 kg per week, depending on factors such as your diet, physical activity and how closely you follow the treatment plan.

Make sure to check in regularly with your medical consultant to monitor your progress and adjust your plan if needed.

This is how the programme works

Our approach in three simple steps.
towards a lasting & healthy weight management

1.

Introduction & blood test

We start by mapping out your health with an intake consultation and blood test. We look at hormones, deficiencies, inflammation markers and other health factors that may influence your weight loss.

2.

Tailored treatment plan

Based on the results, we create a personalised treatment plan. This may include a combination of supplements, targeted nutrition, medication and lifestyle advice. Not a standard programme, but tailored care that fits your body and your stage of life.

3.

Active guidance

In the weeks that follow, we actively guide you. You’ll stay in touch with your consultant, receive interim check-ups and we’ll make adjustments where needed. This way, the treatment supports not only your weight loss, but also your overall health.

How long before I see results?

You can’t build a healthy body in just a week. The duration and frequency of testosterone treatment always depend on your personal goals, your symptoms and your blood values. Your body needs time to recover. Together, we decide on the programme that suits you best.

It’s important to know that weight loss is a gradual process, and slower, consistent progress often leads to more sustainable results. Rapid weight loss can be harder to maintain and may sometimes result in losing muscle rather than fat.

You’ll have regular check-ins, medical guidance and clear insight into your progress. This keeps you motivated and allows you to work step by step towards lasting results.

Why is this an effective way of weight management?

At IKARIA Clinics, we look at the underlying causes. Our treatments are based on medical expertise and scientifically proven methods. We measure, analyse and treat in a targeted way, so your body can recover from the inside out. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every body is different and so is every recovery journey.

That makes our approach both sustainable and effective. Not a quick fix, but a fundamental improvement to your health, benefitting not just your hair, but your whole wellbeing.

What are the costs of weight management with injections?

We always start with an introductory consultation including a premium blood test, which costs €199.

After that, we discuss which treatment plan suits you best. The fees depend on the intensity and duration of the programme. We are always transparent about costs, so you’ll never face unexpected surprises. The second appointment is a full intake session, which also includes a body scan and the start of your first treatment. The cost for this is €295. Every three months, you’ll return for a follow-up consultation, where we review your progress, carry out interim weigh-ins and provide prescriptions. Each of these follow-up consultations costs €295.

Some parts of the programme may be partly reimbursed through additional health insurance, such as consultations or blood tests. During the intake consultation, we explain exactly what options are available. Remember, you’re investing in more than just your body:You invest in your health, confidence and vitality. And you are worth it!

Medication and laboratory tests are covered by most health insurers. Some supplementary insurance plans also provide partial reimbursement for consultations. You can check this with your insurer (Dr Ingrid Kuiper, BIG registration number: 19042361601). Consultations are not covered by the basic insurance. Payment is required immediately after your appointment at the clinic. We accept debit card or credit card.

The costs of the responsible weight loss with injections programme cover supervision by a medical consultant and the prescription for your medication. Every part of our service is designed to provide you with the best possible care and support throughout your journey. The fee is based on the overall programme and does not change if there are adjustments along the way.

Frequently asked questions about our weight loss programme

How does GLP-1 work??

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medications work through several mechanisms in the body that support weight loss.

Increase in satiety | The GLP-1 hormone plays a role in the feeling of fullness, helping you feel less hungry and eat less.

Slower emptying of the stomach | The medication slows down stomach emptying, which means food stays in the stomach for longer. This prolongs the feeling of fullness after a meal, making you less likely to snack in between or eat larger portions.

Loss of appetite | By acting on the brain – particularly the hypothalamus – GLP-1 reduces appetite, leading to a lower calorie intake.

Can I combine weight loss injections with other medications or treatments?

Yes. Our doctors tailor the treatment plan to your medical situation. If needed, we will consult with your GP or specialist.

When can I expect results??

Most of our clients experience results after four to six weeks.

Will I need to take this medication for ever?

Not necessarily. Our aim is to support your body in such a way that, over time, you may need little or no further assistance. In some cases, supplements or maintenance may still be required, but we will decide this together.
